Did You Lose Your CNA License Number?

Generic Truvada

When you pass your CNA exam you are issued a license number that registers you with your state, allowing you to practice CNA work. If you’ve lost your CNA license then you’ll need to get your license number to apply for jobs, so that employers can verify that you are currently an active CNA. In most cases this can be easily done.

If you have access to the Internet, all you have to do is go to your state’s department of public health website and put your first and last name in and you should be able to see the number associated with your CNA license online and your active or inactive status. The website process may vary a little bit from state to state; for example in Florida you will be redirected to another website called nursys.com which will allow you to look up your license number. The easiest way to find the correct website is to type in the name of your state followed by the words “CNA registry” into Google or any other search engine. If you do not have access to a computer or the Internet, or your state does not keep these records online you’ll need to contact your state board of nursing to get this information. If you stop by in person you’ll need to have some sort of identification and they should be able to print out all the information you’ll need. Sometimes there is a fee for this, so you’ll want to call ahead and find out. Your best option, of course, is to simply use the internet.

It is important to have this license number when applying for jobs so if you’ve lost it be sure to look it up as soon as possible. If your states keeps this information in an online registry, which it most likely will, you should be able to get this done in just a couple of short minutes so don’t put it off any longer. If you haven’t gotten your certification yet you may be able to find CNA classes online.
